Recycling a Cardboard Box into a Six-sided chalkboard!

Estimated read time 1 min read

Take one cardboard box, a little bit of chalkboard paint & voila! You have a six-sided chalkboard!

We used the chalkboard paint sparingly & discovered a little went a long way. It dried really quickly too, perfect for eager young ‘uns itching to get chalking!
I did wonder how long this box would last, but it’s been well used for over a week now, both inside & outside & still looks good.
Minnie has had fun creating chalk masterpieces on each side of the box…

We’ve created box signs with it…

We’ve used it for number recognition, sequencing & counting…

& storytelling.

If you fancy making your own chalkboard paint there is a fantastic recipe at Raising Olives. Our small tin of chalkboard paint cost £4, but we used so little on this box that the cost for this activity was minimal. We’ll definitely be making another one of these again soon.
